How to Auto-Sync eToro with TradesViz Step-by-Step Guide
Quick Start
To auto-sync your eToro account, visit https://tradesviz.com/import/.
Use the first dropdown to choose your trading account, the second dropdown to choose eToro,
then switch to the Auto-Sync tab and follow the steps below.
You can also open Import/Export from your profile menu in the top-right corner.
Auto-Sync Setup Instructions
In this post, we will explore how to pair your TradesViz account with eToro for seamless auto-sync of your closed positions using the official eToro Public API.
This post assumes that you have read the basics about auto importing in TradesViz.
Unlike most broker connections, the eToro integration uses OAuth - the same "Log in with..." flow you know from Google or Apple. You never copy API keys or enter your eToro password into TradesViz: you log in on eToro's own website and approve read-only access. That's it.
Once you select your trading account and broker as eToro in the trade auto-import page, a popup box will appear when you click on the "Create Connection" button.
Here are the steps you need to follow:
- Choose the Account Type: Real or Demo (Virtual). You can connect both later as two separate connections.
- (Optional) Set a Sync From date if you only want trades after a certain date - useful if you have already imported older history.
- Click Continue to eToro. You will be redirected to eToro's login page.
- Log in to eToro and approve the requested permissions. TradesViz only requests read-only scopes - we can never place trades, close positions, or move funds.
- You will be redirected back to TradesViz and your eToro connection will appear in the connections list.
Once connected, you can click on sync in the connections list to get your trades synced into TradesViz. All our syncs run once per day automatically and you are also able to manually trigger the sync at any time.
Important notes about the eToro sync:
- Closed positions are synced. A position appears in your TradesViz journal after you close it on eToro (it will be picked up on the next sync). Positions that are still open on eToro are not imported yet.
- Up to 1 year of history is imported on the first sync (or from your "Sync From" date if you set one).
- All asset types available on eToro are supported: stocks, crypto, forex, commodities, indices, and ETFs - including leveraged CFD positions with fees.
- Real and Demo (virtual) accounts are connected separately. Create one connection for each - ideally on separate TradesViz trading accounts to keep the data clean.
- Your eToro account must be verified (KYC complete) for API access to work. If the connection fails right after approval, please complete verification on eToro first.
- Access tokens are refreshed automatically. If eToro ends the session (for example after a long period of inactivity or a password change), the connection will show a sync error - simply reconnect by selecting eToro and going through the login again. Your existing trades and journal data are not affected.
⚠️ Terms & Conditions
- Your eToro password is NEVER seen or stored by TradesViz. The login happens entirely on eToro's website and we only receive secure, read-only access tokens.
- We are not responsible for ANY actions taken in your account.
- Please use the account connect and sync feature ONLY if you agree to the above terms.
That's it! Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns about the eToro auto-sync integration by sending us an email at support@tradesviz.com.
Important Notes About Auto-Sync
- Auto-sync only brings in recent / new trades going forward. For older history, first do a one-time
manual file import from the Upload File tab, then enable auto-sync.
- TradesViz uses read-only access wherever the broker supports it. We never request trading,
transfer, or withdrawal permissions.
- Some brokers (OAuth-based) expire connections periodically and require you to reconnect.
Troubleshooting
- If the connection fails, double-check API keys / OAuth login and that required permissions are granted.
- Make sure the trading account in TradesViz matches the asset class (stocks vs. futures vs. crypto).
- If sync stops bringing in new trades, reconnect the broker from the Auto-Sync connections page.
Need Help?
Email support@tradesviz.com with your broker, the trading account name in
TradesViz, and a screenshot of the error.
If your broker is not yet supported for auto-sync, see our
supported brokers list or contact support to request it.
FAQ
Why are old trades missing after I connected auto-sync?
Auto-sync only fetches recent history. Import a historical CSV/Excel file first from the Upload File
tab, then enable auto-sync for new trades going forward.
How often does auto-sync run?
Connections are synced automatically on a recurring schedule (typically daily). You can also trigger a
manual sync from the Auto-Sync connections page.
Is auto-sync safe? Can TradesViz trade on my account?
No. TradesViz requests read-only access whenever the broker supports it. We do not place trades or move
funds. For OAuth-based brokers, the consent screen will show exactly which scopes are granted.
