How to import trades from Interactive Brokers to TradesViz trading journal?

To import your file, please visit https://tradesviz.com/import by selecting the import button at the bottom left corner of your dashboard or by clicking on your profile icon at the top right corner and selecting "Import/Export". Next, select your trading account in the first dropdown and then the platform as Interactive Brokers in the second dropdown.

Go to IB account portal and sign-in with your username and password.
On the top of the dashboard, click on the "Performance & Reports" and then click on "Third-Party Reports" in the dropdown.
In the Third-Party Reports page, be sure to select the account(s) from which you want to import the trades from by clicking on the account ID link on the top near "Third-Party Reports" text.
Select "TradeLog" in the Provider section
Select the period according to your preference and click "Download". Make sure a valid date period where you have made trades is selected! Otherwise the import will not work since the file will be empty!
A file with the extension '.tlg' will automatically be downloaded.

1. The dashboard

When you log into your dashboard for the first time, you will see empty charts and stats. Click on "Add sample data" button at the top right corner and within a few seconds, you will see your dashboard looks something like this:

The dashboard is simple: you get charts in the middle, and there are tabs you can navigate to on the left side and the nav bar at the top. The navbar at the top changes its buttons based on the tabs you are in - for example, chart settings and filters based on different chart-based tables. The functions button at the top left corner (command icon ⌘) has shortcuts for useful functions like resetting filters, adding trades, reaching the important tabs, etc.,

## Can I add a custom non-supported ticker a manual trade?

Yes. You can add any ticker in TradesViz via the Manual add trade option. If the symbol is not recognized, then the PnL calculation will be done as if it is a stock.

## Can I add tags/notes to a trading day?

Yes! Just like trade explore, you can add notes/tags/images and even trade charts to each trading day.

## Can I filter trades by tags/symbols globally?

Click on the "Filters" button at the top right of your dashboard and enter the symbols and tags you want to filter and click apply.

## Can I write/draw on charts?

Yes! Simply hover your mouse over the chart you want to draw on then click on the gear icon at the top and then click on "Draw on chart". An editor will open where you will be able to draw and write on charts. Do not forget to save once you are done with the edits.

## How can I add tags/notes to many trades at once?

In the Trades table, shift-click on each row (trade) to select many trades and then click on "Actions" > "Group apply" at the top of the table. Now, you can select the group apply operations such as adding/removing tags/comments and finally click on "Save changes" at the bottom.

The biggest problem we have faced as product developers and as traders with TradesViz is: importing trades. We support over 100 brokers/platforms for manual import but let's be honest. This is 2020++ and we need to automate these mundane processes.

You can now automatically import your trades from selected brokers into your TradesViz account safely and accurately with just a click of a button. No need to follow instructions to download csv files, no need to fiddle with options, no need to drag and drop files - just 1 click and you will have all your imported to your TradesViz account. When you now visit the tradesviz.com/import page, you will see an additional option called "Add auto-sync connection" at the top. Click on it and you will have options to set up an auto account syncing/pairing with various brokers. You can visit the import page by clicking on the profile icon at the top right corner or by clicking on the upload icon at the bottom left corner of your main dashboard.

To link a broker/platform to your TradesViz account, follow the steps below:

Select the trading account into which you want the trades to be imported automatically
Select the broker/platform in the next dropdown
Finally, click on the "Connect account" button

Login on to your TradingView account
Launch any technical chart
At the bottom, click on "Paper trading" (or relevant tab with your trading info in it)
Click on "History" tab and click on the 3 dots icon on the rightmost corner of the table and make sure all columns are checked and are visible in the table.
Now click on the dropdown that has the TradingView logo (or relevant platform's logo through which you are trading)
Now select "Export data"
In the popup that appears, click on "History" and click "Export"
Upload the CSV file by clicking on the "Choose File" box in this page.
